Coming January 2025: Children’s Lobes Are Back! Chalupa made me so proud today, helping her second cousin get her new piercings. ✨ My cousin first brought Maddy to me when she was just 3 months old. Back then, Maddy made it very clear she wasn’t ready—screaming, tucking her ears away, and wanting nothing to do with it. I told her mama, “No problem—when she's ready, I’ll be here.” 👂🏽 There’s a lot of pressure in our community to pierce girls when they’re very young, but I prefer to wait until they express their own desire for it. It makes the experience that much more special. No judgment, just my personal preference. ✌🏽 For Chalupa, it was almost 3 years. For my niece Ellie, it was 5. And for Maddy, it was 6! It’s all about what feels right for the little human. 🖤 Fast forward to now: Maddy was nervous, but after a little pep talk from Chalupa and me, she absolutely crushed it. Honestly, I think her mama, @briannaat_, was more nervous than she was. 💡 Watching your little one be brave is no joke—it takes everything to stay calm and collected, but it makes a world of difference. Now Maddy’s rocking the cutest flower jewelry with pink gemstones, and I couldn’t be prouder. ‼️ At my studio, we’re all about making this a safe and supportive experience for kids. If they say no, we stop—no questions asked. We know they might get scared and need a little extra time, and that’s okay. But if they’re flat-out not having it, neither am I. It’s all about making sure they’re ready and comfortable when the time comes. This ain't no "you pick it we stick it" kind of place. Healing takes about a year, but by 6 months, they’re usually settled enough to be more comfortable. If earbuds or stethoscopes are a big part of your lifestyle, though, keep in mind that it’ll take some time before those feel comfy again.
